Service Charge Analyst - Gloucestershire

Our Client is one of the UK’s leading commercial service charge specialists, actively working on raising industry standards and promoting best practice in service charge management whilst delivering fair value service charges for its clients since 1992.

We are seeking to appoint a service charge analyst to work within the Portfolio Services team at our Aztec West office, Bristol. The role encompasses two key work streams – service charge administration (acting on behalf of clients as tenants) and service charge recovery (clients as landlord). The successful candidate will also provide support to consultants and other colleagues as required. Whilst initially for 12 months, it is possible that this position will become permanent within that period. A detailed induction plan will be implemented during the first month.

The candidate will have experience of commercial service charges, be confident reading leases and other legal documentation, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Whilst the role is predominately office based, the candidate may be required to conduct site visits and attend meetings with clients and/or third parties (own transportation required).

Working within a small friendly team, the candidate must be adaptable and flexible. The role at times may encompass all key tasks detailed below.

Applicants should have excellent attention to detail, an enquiring nature and a logical and methodical approach to analysis and problem solving. Review and analysis of cost information forms a large part of the role and so the candidate should enjoy working with figures and have intermediate Excel skills.

Service Charge Administration – Key Tasks

  • Check invoices, certificates and budgets for errors, analyse against previous payments and Property Solutions’ benchmarks.
  • Read and analyse leases to check compliance and determine liability for costs.
  • Identify potential issues and/or potential savings opportunities.
  • Undertake negotiations with landlords and agents to ensure value for money services and to achieve cost reductions where appropriate.
  • Assist with production of monthly and quarterly reports

Service Charge Recovery – Key Tasks

  • Prepare service charge certificates and budgets
  • Calculate other charges due from tenants (for example, demised electricity)
  • Assist with accounting functions (invoicing, receipts, credit control, banking)
  • Respond to tenant queries
  • Assist with production of monthly and quarterly reports

Other Tasks

  • Reconcile payment information from different sources and produce concise summaries
  • Provide support to consultants on key accounts and specific commissions
  • Assist with data entry/data maintenance in the companies bespoke database
  • Review and analysis of transaction listings provided by third parties
  • General office support as required
