Knowledge Manager - Bid Team

The Knowledge Manager will manage and maintain the Major Projects knowledge library, primarily supporting the work winning team with information for client submissions.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Undertake day to day management of content in the knowledge management system
  • Seek out new and existing sources of information, liaising with project teams and external forums as appropriate
  • Liaise with work winning team on knowledge requirements for bids in short / long term
  • Liaise with bid teams to gather new information during and after bid development
  • Support Proposals Manager with design and development of knowledge management system
  • Support work winning team with using the system, and considering updates to increase ease of use
  • Assist with drafting case studies / CVs to support live bids, as required

PERSONAL QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience of the day to day management of a knowledge management system (e.g. Sharepoint and Business Collaborator or similar)
  • Able to think strategically about system design and content, focusing on user-friendly interfaces and intuitive search functionality
  • Self-starter, able to seek out contacts and sources of information independently and execute activities which add value to their function
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills, able to build strong relationships to pull appropriate information from operational teams and to supply the right information to bid teams
  • Good attention to detail with good organisation and planning skills, able to set up systems and processes to support bids where necessary.
  • Previous experience of supporting teams with producing new written content from stored information (e.g. case studies, CVs)
  • A desire to continuously pursue innovation and development, with a focus on knowledge users, the Major Projects business and external customers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, with strong skills in other MS Office software, eg PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe packages
  • Experience of supporting proposals, PQQ and tender documents for major projects (£15m+), preferably within construction, civil engineering or related industries
