Job Description

 

This company provides managed services to local authorities and associated public sector bodies. The company exists to provide focus to the challenge of supporting local public sector organisations in continuing to serve their local customers.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will be responsible for the delivery of planned works schemes, reactive maintenance and capital investment schemes. You will ensuring that works are safely delivered to programme and budget. You will be responsible for the end to end delivery of schemes and planned works, valued from £500 - £500,000. You will be responsible for numerous sites at any one time, located across the South East of England.

 

Requirements

Personal Qualities

  • A person who’s attitudes, conduct and demeanor reflects the company values and who is able to effectively represent the company;
  • A strong people manager, who is focused and has experience in getting the best out of people
  • A person who is accustomed to working with senior management;
  • A person able to work on their own initiative and be able to schedule workload to meet priorities;
  • An experienced professional with extensive knowledge of highways management and operations;
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience of managing key suppliers;
  • Experienced in managing projects; Qualifications
  • ONC level in engineering discipline, or GCSE Math’s or Science (or equivalent).

 

Responsibilities

  • Developing RAMS, Programmes and Construction Phase Health and Safety Plans
  • Managing and monitoring the progress of schemes delivered by in house labour resources and sub contract resources.
  • Managing and monitoring works to programme and budget
  • Reporting on scheme progress
  • Managing on site Health and Safety
  • Liaising with members of the client team to ensure that the client’s needs are met.
  • Production of as built records and health and safety files.
  • Mentoring members of the work force
  • Engaging in contract and companywide initiatives and best practice.
  • Assisting in the delivery of the annual winter maintenance programme (Sept – April)
  • Out of Hours Standby (on a Rota basis)

The Individual

 

Training/experience

 

  • An experienced individual experience in the civil engineering or highways maintenance industry.
  • Strong management and excellent time management skills are a must.
  • A Health and Safety Qualification is preferred (SMSTS, iOSH, NEBOSH)

 

Skills

 

  • A full driving license is essential;
  • LGV is preferred
  • PC Literate with knowledge of MS applications e.g. Word, Excel, MS Project;
  • Able to communicate and present confidently, clearly and expressively;
  • Good writing skills;
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills;
  • Capable of influencing within cross-functional teams;
