Our Client is looking for a multi-skilled Shift Engineer, with an Electrical Bias to work on a wide range of building services reactive and planned maintenance on a shift basis to ensure 24 hour cover for the Estate in London.

Job objectives and responsibilities

  • Responsible to a Shift Supervisor for undertaking electrical biased works on a wide range of building services reactive and planned maintenance throughout the estate. The work is undertaken on a shift basis to ensure 24hr cover for the estate. All shift teams to be complementary with balance of electrical and mechanical support across the sites
  • To carry out duties in compliance with the companies and the Clients Policies and Procedures
  • To drive and promote their One Code which is integral to their companies values and behaviours
  • To perform tasks in a professional manner to a suitable standard to meet both Client and companies expectations
  • Compliance with Health and Safety policy/legislation

Main duties

  • To undertake routine PPM tasks in accordance with the SFG20 framework
  • To undertake reactive maintenance and electrical repairs as required
  • To undertake minor new works and complete required certification as necessary
  • To undertake escort duties of sub-contractors where required
  • To attend site meetings or training when required
  • To co-operate with and support other disciplines for the provision of multi-discipline services where required
  • Procure materials and equipment to carry out works through the Shift Leader, Supervisor or Manager
  • Be available to carry out necessary works outside normal shifts including  shift covers  with additional remuneration
  • Support contract mobilisation & change management
  • Management of financial procedures & delivery efficiencies
  • Adherence & Promotion of the company & department mission vision & values
  • Assist in ensuring that all Statutory and Legislative requirements are achieved/adhered to  for the site
  • To ensure clients operational procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Obtain appropriate authorisation for access into restricted areas from the client’s representative as and when required
  • Complete risk assessments and worksheets for works undertaken and obtain authorisation from the Clients representative

Person Specification

  • C&G 236 Part 1 & 2 or equivalent
  • BS7671 17th Edition
  • C&G 2391 Electrical inspection and Testing (desired)
  • Ideally served a recognised trade training scheme
  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent
  • Ability to undertake all facets of maintenance and installation requirements as required within the scope of the contract
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Good written, numeric and verbal skills
  • Organised and methodical with the ability to multi-task
  • Approachable team player, able to work on own initiative and with colleagues and clients alike
  • High levels of self-motivation, technical inquisitiveness, enthusiasm and commitment
  • Be pro-active and capable of anticipating potential faults.
  • Works well under pressure
  • Previous relevant experience in a similar industry
