CAPEX Buyer Role Brief

Brief

Our client is commencing a review of their CAPEX and Maintenance category spend which is
currently managed predominately by their Property team. The supply categories in this area consist
of main contractors; build maintenance, furniture, catering equipment, mechanical contactor,
heating, ventilation & air Conditioning maintenance and more.

This role will be reporting into the Senior Purchasing Manager, Investments with the support of
externally appointed consultants in reviewing this area of the business. This will be a fantastic new
role in the Purchasing team who are part of the Commercial Department. With guidance & support
from the Senior Purchasing Manager this will be a great opportunity to shape, develop this exciting
new role in a fast paced environment.

Whilst for the initial early stages of the review, you will be supporting the Senior Purchasing
Manager, medium to long term relationship management will be required to ensure sustainable
value is being maintained & delivered. The role will no doubt expand into new untapped areas of
business overtime.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a vibrant, ambitious and successful drinks led business and to
compliment an established and great purchasing team. The role will be based in their Head Office,
based in Luton; travel within the UK will be required from time to time, i.e. meeting suppliers,
visiting our sites. The Purchasing team is highly regarded in the business and has gained numerous
awards within the business.

 

The Person - Skills / Experience

Ideally to have worked in the above categories in the hospitality sector would be advantageous:

 Working in environments that have undergone change. Relationship management with
internal stakeholders and suppliers. Close collaboration with Property in developing
suppliers and working relationships.
 Negotiation, contract management. Propose & implement cost reduction actions for their
portfolio.
 Negotiate price & service conditions (price, payment terms, and services) with suppliers.
 Be a procurement subject matter expert for the CAPEX category and be a driving force for
strategic sourcing initiatives. Negotiating agreements with suppliers (contractual conditions)
 Initiate, develop & maintain strong cross functional relationships within the business, which
achieves more than BAU cost savings and instead positions CAPEX much more strategically
amongst our stakeholders.
 Working collaboratively whilst having the skillset to challenge and bring change working with
key stakeholders.
 Identify & develop new suppliers / materials / technologies. Continuous supplier market
analysis. Providing analysis on market, new products, new comers, legal constraints, etc
 Reporting own activity (especially savings) to the Senior Purchasing Manager.
 Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project Management.
 Commercial acumen and great communication skills
 Ability to work and delver at pace
