Business Development Manager - London

Purpose

• To develop new and existing contacts and relationships to generate tender opportunities which are in line with the region and national business strategy and targets.

• To work closely with the Board and Senior Management Teams and other BDMs in developing, influencing and supporting the business and marketing strategy.


Responsibilities


Business Development


• Create positive awareness and profitable tender opportunities for Building,
Major Projects, Energy and Industrial Process, Civils, Rail and other operations

• Ensure availability of appropriate negotiated projects and opportunities to tender from new and existing clients

• Maintain a pipeline of future leads and projects in accordance with the business need

• Present company to potential and existing clients through direct communication in face to face meetings, telephone calls, email and letter etc.

• Promote the company to clients and prospects in accordance with the brand values, key messages and desired business profile

• Use market intelligence to maintain awareness of forthcoming projects and tender opportunities in advance of general publication

• Organise and play active role in events and hospitality

• Represent company in attending external functions and events


Strategy


• Produce, maintain and monitor achievement of the Strategy Plan

• Identify and analyse potential market sectors for attractiveness and suitability for company and target key players within them

• Identify potential clients with business profile that fits with company business strategy

• Develop and implement contact plans (in conjunction with Directors and Senior Management team as appropriate)

• Develop and implement Key Account Management plans

• Maintain awareness of competitor activity and strategies and build company response into the region’s marketing activity

• Contribute to the development and implementation of Strategic Plans in other regions, market sectors etc as required


Reports and Analysis

• Create and present reports and recommendations on market opportunities, sector analysis, customer feedback, competitor analysis etc as required

• Communicate key customer, market sector, competitor activity etc to the management team and BDM colleagues

• Obtain and interpret feedback on the quality of PQQs, tender bids, completed projects and market perception of the business and use this to generate actionable insight

• Ensure Customer Satisfaction Questionnaires are issued and completed according to procedure

• Contact Management Strategy – act as advocate for CRM system, ensure customer and project database is up to date and actively used by self and other customer focussing staff and admin support as appropriate

• Prepare and present Marketing Report to Board Meetings


Other


• Act as regional interface with company PR agency

• Review and input to the creation of promotional materials and tools

• Any other duties commensurate with the position that may be requested from time to time


Health and Safety

Specific Safety Responsibilities


• Take care of their own Health and Safety and that of others

• Co-operate with their employer on issues regarding Health, Safety and Environmental issues

• Undertake activities in the manner in which they have been trained

• Report any defects, hazards or unsafe practices to their Manager or Safety/environmental Manager/Advisor

• Advise their Line Manage of any fact which may affect their own Health and Safety whilst at work

• Report to their Line Manager any accident, incident (r dangerous occurrence) which results in injury

• Wear Personal Protective Equipment provided

• Do not interfere with or misuse anything provided in interests of Health and Safety.
